🧱Play Block Drop

Block Drop is a falling-block puzzle in the tradition invented in 1984: a ten column well, seven tetromino shapes, and rows that vanish when you complete them. It is one of the purest test cases in game design for the idea that a game gets harder simply by going faster.

The interesting tension is between greed and safety. A four-row clear is worth far more than four single clears, but setting one up means keeping a column open and letting your stack climb. Every player eventually develops a personal height at which they abandon the plan and start clearing singles — finding yours is most of the skill.

Speed increases with the level counter, which rises every ten cleared rows. Scoring follows the familiar curve: one row is worth a modest amount, four rows at once is worth eight times a single. Hard drops earn a small bonus per cell travelled, rewarding players who commit early.

The board is drawn on a canvas and sized to fit your screen, so it works the same on a laptop and on a phone held upright.
